Week 13: August 11-August 17
Week 13 marks the 100th post on But Their Emails! I need to give huge kudos to Tirra, who designed my logo and managed to pull it straight out of my brain, and BroadCityChessClub who suggested the name. On Friday, Joe Biden announced that Bernie Sanders announced that Sanders had raised $47.5 million total and Biden needed to step up his fundraising game. Then Joe Sestak announced that Joe Biden announced that Bernie Sanders announced that Sanders had raised $47.5 million and Biden needed to step up his fundraising game and therefore this clearly meant that Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders were both scared of Joe Sestak.

Tom Steyer caused an upset on Tuesday by announcing that he had 130,000 donors and 3 of the 4 required polls for the September debates. Most candidates were far more interested in telling me about Iowa than they were with Steyer’s accomplishment, but Steve Bullock had some words about his opponent.

Over the weekend, Tim Ryan figured out how targeted emails works, Jay Inslee went full super hero, and Joe Biden was exaggerating his difficulties.

Last weekend, there were two mass shootings in America, coming fresh off another mass shooting just last week. While Beto O’Rourke, Julian Castro, and Tim Ryan called the victims their constituents, it was clear that none of the candidates knew how to campaign in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy. The email count dropped sharply.

Day 81: 8/9/19
On Friday, Bill de Blasio confirmed what everyone’s thinking about him is true, Andrew Yang is feeling confident, and the DNC asked the candidates to make a specific ask.

On Thursday: Joe Biden gave an “exclusive” code to everyone, Pete Buttigieg wants to grab a pizza with me, and Tulsi Gabbard scored a new endorsement.
Also, But Their Emails! got its first media mention! Thanks to The Detroit News for the shout-out, and welcome new readers from that website!

Content warning: There will be more talk of the weekend’s events in this post.
As the candidates resume their campaigns, their debate dreams are top priority. Candidates who haven’t qualified for September yet are pushing for donations and polls. Beto O’Rourke, Joe Biden, and Julian Castro all reacted to the President’s attacks on them, and Kamala Harris is taking a five-day bus tour across Iowa.
