This email volume chart does a good job of tracking my insanity levels…

Emails | |
---|---|
Total | 145 |
Biden | 43 |
Trump | 102 |
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

Over the past week, Donald Trump sent 115 emails, while Joe Biden sent 49.

As the end of the month and the end of the election cycle crept ever closer, both candidates ramped up their emails, but Trump went crazier than Biden (as usual). Biden spiked on Wednesday, for no specific reason I could determine, but Trump ramped up for the holiday weekend.

Interestingly enough, Biden didn’t mention Halloween (though other Democrats broke out the spooky jokes and bad dad puns–Gory BOO-ker (Cory Booker) was especially atrociously adorable here)), but Trump actually did. “Happy Halloween, we can’t make America great again without you!” isn’t much of a Halloween message, but it’s at least something.

While Trump focused on getting my money or having me tell him how good he is, Biden focused on getting my money or getting me to volunteer for him. He sent out multiple messages with links to find my polling place and make sure I’m registered to vote.
Trump sent multiple emails making sure I was aware he had a text message club that only his best supporters were part of, and I could join.

The most dependable part of the past week’s emails were just how many of Trump’s were declaring war on parts of America. “THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY, NOT THEIRS!” Trump screamed, railing about the unhinged Democrats and how Biden and Harris were going to drive the country into a depression with their radical socialist ideas.
I’m not just running against Joe Biden—I’m running against the Left-wing media, the Big Tech giants, and the wretched Washington Swamp. They have nothing but disdain for you and your values – I’m counting on your support to finally CRUSH them.
Donald J. Trump
Biden had a different message.
Amy, my message is that I know this country. I know our people. And I know we can unite and heal this nation.
We are the United States of America. There is not a single thing we haven’t been able to do when we’ve done it together.
And that’s why, even as I run as a proud Democrat in this race, I will govern as an American president.
A president for all of us. Not just for those who cast their vote for me.
Joseph R. Biden Jr.
I don’t understand how people can still be torn over who to vote for, or if they even want to vote at all.
I just don’t.
