Tonight, Donald Trump and Joe Biden will be facing off for the second and final presidential debate of this election cycle. While Biden says Trump backed out of the second debate (he did), Trump insists that the second debate was canceled (it was, after Trump backed out and Biden found something better to do) and now they are attempting to silence him by muting his mics and making him talk about the pandemic and health care and something other than Hunter Biden’s made-up emails. Since these two men had such different views of what happened with the second debate, I figured I’d take a look at how they talk about each other.
Every single email I receive from a campaign, I say it at least mentions the candidate, whether it be through a logo or a photo or a signature. However, sometimes the candidates or their campaign go above and beyond, puffing up their candidate with praise on their record or their character.
Despite one of the candidates being Trump, these praise emails are actually much fewer than you may think. Biden only sends emails praising himself 9.1% of the time.
Trump is nearly double as prolific with the praise, at 17.2%, but even that is still less than a fifth of the emails he sends.
Talking about their opponent is where things get interesting. Biden’s emails are fairly evenly split between mentioning that Trump exists (will be facing Trump on the debate stage, wants to beat Trump in the election), criticizing Trump (corrupt administration, restore America after Trump, reject Trump’s hatred and division), or not even mentioning Trump at all. This split is far too close to even for me to think it’s accidental.
Trump, on the other hand, would rather Biden didn’t exist at all. He ignores Biden in over 70% of his emails, with only 5.2% mentioning Biden without an insult, and the remaining 24.2% making sure we don’t forget that Sleepy Joe is the puppet of the Radical Left and owned by China.
Interestingly, when it comes to insulting the other party as a whole (or individual members who were not the presidential candidate), Trump is much happier to splash insults around, while Biden is restrained. Biden has only insulted the Republican party or specific non-Trump Republicans in 6.3% of his emails.
Trump has insulted the Democrats in over 36% of his emails.
More of his emails insult Democrats than even mention the name of the man he is running against.
I think Trump knows that the bogey man can be the nameless, faceless Radical Left, but when you put ice-cream-loving, aviator-wearing, grinning Uncle Joe in the field… it’s pretty hard to hate him.
