When Ted Cruz has a book to sell, he goes all out.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 12 emails on Monday, while Joe Biden sent 5.
Once again, Trump offered me Ted Cruz’s new book (already a #1 bestseller on Amazon, and I can’t help but wonder how much the Trump campaign has to do with that) for just $75! It is a signed copy, and all proceeds from the sale will go toward getting Trump re-elected.
It’s worth noting that while this isn’t the first time Trump has used his campaign mailing list to shill books for other people (Sean Hannity and Donald Trump Jr. come to mind), it is the first time he’s done it via his Trump Make America Great Again Committee list, which is the one I track.
So far, we are up to 6 emails for Cruz’s book.
Meanwhile, Biden has sent his final newsletter of the campaign season, full of recapping recent events, asking for money, and talking about future events such as the upcoming debates.
As always, the difference between Trump and Biden’s campaign emails couldn’t be more stark. While Trump talks about the destruction of America, Biden talks about the rebuilding.

We have just two weeks to win this thing. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done to get us to this point, but right now, we need to dig deeper than ever before.
