Recently, a terrorist plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and make her ‘stand trial’ (code for kill her) was unveiled and thwarted by the FBI. While this is a clear sign that our institutions protecting us are still intact, Donald Trump has not stopped trying to continue to grow these domestic terrorist cells.

For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

Donald Trump sent 10 emails on Friday, while Joe Biden sent 4.

Biden’s emails were fairly standard, though he did dip into the guilt-tripping as the deadline (October 14) looms closer.
If we don’t pick up the pace tonight, it looks like we’re only going to make it to 97% of our goal:
It’s more important than ever that our team has the resources we need to win in just 25 days — but if we don’t pick up the pace tonight, we’ll fall behind and risk missing this important goal.
But if you and your neighbors step up now, you’ll put us back on track to hitting our goal and raising $2,205,000 more in Michigan in the next five days.
Kelly Langford, Deputy Director of Online Fundraising, Biden for President
They also included this handy graphic, so I could see the bar was tantalizingly close to the end of the chart.

Next to Trump’s guilt-tripping emails, this is quite tame. Practically laughable. But Trump wasn’t guilt-tripping me on Friday.

Biden’s focus was on the fundraising, but Trump was stressing 2 things. One: the Democrats were a disaster trying to lie, cheat, steal, and destroy things in order to win power. Two: I was needed to protect the President.
Some of the messages were innocuous enough: send $10, get a set of lapel pins!
But then there was Operation MAGA.

The FREE GIFT is not described. It cannot be copied, because no one knows what it is. Trump likes membership cards, so it may be some sort of special membership card identifying you as a TRUE PATRIOT and a DEFENDER OF THE PRESIDENT. Regardless, it is a badge of identity. You can look at it and know that you are helping President Trump.
Furthermore, if you see someone else with this gift, you know that THEY are helping President Trump. You know immediately that they agree with your core values and will be an ally against the Left.
You now have a sense of belonging to a group, something bigger than yourself. You have a sense of purpose in your life. You have an identity that you can lean on.
And that is how you start to radicalize people.
Imagine yourself at a party (I know, I know, we’ve reached fantasy land here) and someone asks you “What do you do?” You’d probably answer with your occupation, right? “I write a blog.” “I’m a farmer.” “I’m a student.”
But what if you’re nothing? What if you’re one of those 11 million people who lost a job due to COVID-19, or even earlier? You’d be ashamed to answer that question. You’d be afraid to even be in a situation where you can be asked that question. Your very identity would be in flux…
…but if you pay $45, you can say that you’re part of Operation MAGA, defending the President.
What can you do as part of Operation MAGA? Well…

I don’t know what sort of deals Trump is accustomed to making. I don’t know if he’s accustomed to making deals. But I can tell you that calling people whose lives you endangered with your reckless approach to public health “Swamp Creatures” is not a good way to endear them to your cause.
While this email was list-building, getting people to sign up to Trump’s list, it’s worth noting that this rhetoric spilled out into the digital world. There were plenty of tweets about those Swamp Creatures at the Debate Commission, and Kristen Welker, the moderator scheduled for the third debate and a woman of color, has removed her Twitter account completely.
But that’s not even all that Trump emailed on Friday. Among his usual “800% match!” and “this hat you can buy on my website is now a special offer JUST FOR YOU!” emails was this disturbing call for support of the President.

It’s Trump’s usual trumpeting about how awesome his administration has been and how manipulative and deceitful the Left has been.
And then he gave me a petition to sign and left me with this:

Especially in light of the recent attempt to overthrow the government of Michigan, this struck me like a call to arms. It’s no longer “when the Left comes after me, they’re really coming after YOU.” Now it’s “When they come for me, you defend me.”
And add your name. Say you will. Make it harder for you to go against yourself when he actually loses the election.
Our institutions are still there and still defending us, but there is one person who is actively trying to make us less safe. He’s not even trying to hide it.
For many people, November 3 is the LAST day to vote. Don’t wait until the last minute.
Vote.
