Donald Trump has not included a picture of his “PERFECT” pick for the next Supreme Court justice in any of his many emails about her. I wonder why.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 23 emails over the weekend, while Joe Biden sent 9.
While Biden’s focus was on end-of-quarter fundraising, or fundraising by the debate (which, on the 29th, is practically the end of quarter), Trump’s focus is on the Supreme Court as he desperately attempts to distract from his COVID-19 failings (and now his tax failings).
Trump’s one survey of the weekend was asking me if I approved of Amy Coney Barrett. If I answered that one-question survey, the campaign promised, I would unlock a 700% match for my next donation!
That email was sent at 8 AM on Sunday morning. If I waited 2 hours and 39 minutes, Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy, sent a fawning email full of Trump adoration that promised a 700% match on ALL donations made before midnight.
And if I waited just 16 minutes more, Trump himself would up that match to 800% for the next hour.
In addition to these crazy donation matches (that, remember, NO ONE IS MATCHING), Trump informed me that his wildly popular FILL THAT SEAT shirt was going to be HERE TO STAY, just like the justice he picked to fill the seat.
He also informed me that this shirt was limited-edition with a high sellout risk.
But, you know, here to stay, soon to be gone, act now or I may miss my chance to get this shirt that will be here forever.
(Both of these messages were from the exact same email. Trump must think his supporters have the brains of goldfish.)
But as with every email about Amy Coney Barrett, it’s not about her, it’s about Trump.
He’s already screaming about how the Left is treating her unfairly and refusing to even meet with her and they hate her solely because she was appointed by a Republican president.
There are a lot of reasons to be extremely unhappy with ACB’s nomination. The fact that it was done by a Republican is one of the least of them.
Meanwhile, Pete Buttigieg emailed to let me know that Biden is prepping for the debate, but it always means a lot when going into a debate to know that you have the support of your grassroots team at your back, so could I make a donation pre-debate? He, like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, email on Biden’s behalf to stress the importance of $X raised from Michigan this month.
We are about to enter the final month of campaigning. I am looking forward to never having to read these emails again… this year.
