While Donald Trump is making new membership cards, Joe Biden is trying to make up for the pandemic in Milwaukee.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 10 emails on Thursday, while Joe Biden sent his usual 4.
Thursday marked exactly 2 months out from the election, but the first mail-in ballots (or absentee ballots, whichever makes you feel safer) began being sent out. As you read this, the first ballots have already been returned. Votes have been cast for either Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
And yet they both had some asks that weren’t directly giving them money.
Trump wanted my opinion on how he was doing as a President and begged me to sign up for the official Trump Texts, because then I’d get surveys like those FIRST (though I’d also still get them in my email inbox, so I doubt it would really save me anything). Biden, on the other hand, asked me to volunteer at a local event to help get out the vote, and he also wanted to talk about Wisconsin.
You see, a big convention like the Democratic National Convention draws big crowds to a city. The host location always gets a huge economic boost, and many employers count on it.
Obviously, that did not happen this year.
Biden sent out an email with several Wisconsin-based charities and asked me if I could make a donation to them. This was, he said, the least he could do for the state that had its economic boost stolen by the mismanaged pandemic. Not a dollar of the donations would go toward his campaign.
In other words, he was acting like a leader.
Trump broke out the gold donation buttons, because Trump needed to be made to feel better.
Trump did, however, do one leaderly thing… he told his supporters to wear a face mask.
You see, Nancy Pelosi was caught on camera without a face mask and she had a hairdresser open up to get her hair done privately… that HYPOCRITE!
The Democrats are the biggest hypocrites in the world.
Crazy Nancy Pelosi is getting decimated for having a beauty parlor open in San Francisco when all others are forced to be closed. And to make it worse, she was caught on camera WITHOUT a face covering. Ridiculous!
President Trump has said wearing a face covering is one of the most Patriotic things you can do to FIGHT the Invisible China Virus, which is why he’s released a collection of BRAND-NEW Trump Face Coverings.
You’ve always been a TOP SUPPORTER of the President, which is why he’s asked us to reserve one of our ICONIC Trump Face Coverings FOR YOU.
Don’t be like Crazy Nancy, Amy. Get your Trump Face Covering NOW!Team Trump 2020
Can I be honest with you?
I think Nancy would be fine with this. She recognized that she screwed up and apologized, but nothing she does will ever make Trump supporters like her. If this screw-up means that thousands more people wear face masks so that they aren’t “like Crazy Nancy,” then so be it.
I don’t care if you plaster Trump humping the American flag across your face. I just want everyone to wear a mask to protect lives. Why or how you’re doing it is far less important than the fact that you’re doing it. If this scandal for Nancy means that more Americans cover up, then she did a great service for the country.
Not that Trump will ever see it that way.
