Donald Trump is getting his ego-stroking praise from the convention, so his email volume has dropped off a little.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 7 emails on Wednesday, while Joe Biden held steady at 4.
When Trump wasn’t asking for money, he was asking me to sign up for Trump texts so I could have a spot on his campaign strategy call (EXTREMELY LIMITED SPACE). Other than that, both campaigns focused on raising money.
Unusually, Trump sent out two emails with a hopeful, dare I say, optimistic tone. However, this was actually the exact same email sent back to back with different subject lines, so that diminished the effect. It was also sent by Melania Trump, praising her husband and looking forward to a future that continues to get better.
There almost weren’t any ALL CAPS in that email.
Aside from Melania recapping her speech, Trump was mostly business as usual, though Joni Ernst, a Senator from Iowa, did email for the first time actually expressing excitement over Trump soon to be accepting the nomination from the Republican party. Other than that, I was special and could demonstrate my specialness by giving Trump money.
The Trumps were out in full force, however, all talking excitedly about their speeches and their dad’s/husband’s speech(es) and isn’t this awesome, we are going to SAVE America from the horrible, evil, nepotism-riddled Democrats.
They’re not even trying anymore. The RNC is just a parade of praise for Trump. It’s not even trying to be for the Republican party or for Americans.
As such, I’ve decided to spare myself the pain of watching my country be shat on. I’m not going to watch tonight’s parade of lies and law-breaking.
I will, unfortunately, continue to report on the emails.
