The Republican National Convention began on Monday, and Donald Trump was finally talking about it.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 7 emails on Monday, while Joe Biden sent 4.
Both Trump and Biden each sent one survey. Biden asked if I was going to watch the RNC, while Trump listed off his second-term agenda and asked if I agreed with it. Beyond the survey, they each asked me to donate, donate, donate (though Trump was willing to match most of my donations).
Biden’s focus was mostly on the RNC, though he did point out that it was pretty clear from Trump’s tweets that he had watched the Democratic National Convention and completely missed the point of their message. Trump, on the other hand, only talked about the Republican National Convention twice. He sent the exact same email complaining about the DNC being the darkest, angriest, and gloomiest convention in history to me twice, and Eric Trump seemed to forget what week it was.
Mega Donors are going to be MAXING OUT contributions to Joe and Kamala during their Convention, which is why it’s absolutely critical that every American Patriot help out right now.Eric Trump
Apparently, Trump is trending behind on his mid-month goal… one week before the end of the month.
I did watch the RNC last night. It was… pretty dark, angry, and gloomy. There was a complete lack of imagination in the shots, most of the speakers had no idea how to modulate their tone to make an interesting speech to listen to, and one SHOUTED HER ENTIRE SPEECH AS IF SHE WERE A LIVE TRUMP EMAIL! I COULD HEAR THE BOLD!
Donald Trump Jr. also sounded like a live Trump email, with much more nuance to his ALL CAPS and bold delivery. Neither of them gave very good speeches.
However… there were a lot of names on the screen. Names that flew past too fast to count. Names that started scrolling before the convention began and continued scrolling after it ended. The names were in a tiny font that was barely readable on my iPad screen. I didn’t even try to count them. I did, however, wonder if someone who donated to get their name on the screen felt like it was worth it. Your name might not have even made it on the screen when anyone was speaking…
Especially not if you were one of the first names to be displayed.
