Day 456: 8/18/20

The Democratic National Convention began, and Joe Biden let it do the talking for him.

For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!

It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.

The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

This is quiet for Trump

Donald Trump sent out 7 emails on Tuesday, while Joe Biden returned to his usual 3.

Nothing in the middle

Both Biden and Trump were focusing on raising money yesterday, though Trump also did beg me to join his text club.

Biden gets to use the VP sender now!

Biden’s email all came from prominent Democrats. Kamala Harris started things off with a 12:30 AM email about how everyone at the convention was amazing, but she was most blown away by Michelle Obama’s speech (weren’t we all?). John Kerry followed it up later in the day to talk about why he was supporting his friend through all of this, and Amy Klobuchar emailed to ask me to step up and donate.

Meanwhile, Trump kept emailing me about how the Democrats who spoke at the convention were all incompetent. With nicknames such as Crazy Bernie, Michelle Obama, failed presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar, Fredo’s brother: Andrew Cuomo, Gretchen “Half” Whitmer, Corrupt Sally Yates, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, Socialist Squad Leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bill Clinton, and Jill Biden (all how Trump named them), how could I doubt their incompetence?

Interesting how Michelle Obama, John Kerry, Bill Clinton, and Jill Biden didn’t get nicknames.

And remember that personalized signed photo that Trump desperately wanted me to have but I had to act fast because there was a limited amount?

Yeah, he dropped the price by $10.

There’s that hostility again

I’m actually a bit interested in seeing how both sides react when it’s time for the Republican National Convention. Biden is super excited and hopeful and grateful about what’s going on with the Democrats, but Trump never talks about other Republicans and has barely mentioned the convention at all, except to talk about where he’ll give his acceptance speech (Gettysburg or the White House? [which would be illegal]). I’m not even fully convinced that he’ll be talking about the Republican Convention DURING the convention.

That means he’d be talking about other people than himself and his enemies (i.e. everyone not on the 2020 Presidential Defense Task Force) .

Trump didn’t hit 300. I’m stunned.
