There was a huge announcement on Tuesday, but surprisingly, there wasn’t an increase in emails about it.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent 6 emails on Tuesday, while Joe Biden kept to his usual 3.
I also realized that Biden has started sending me emails via 2 lists, the Biden for President and the Biden Victory Fund. He’s actually been doing this for a while, but I only just noticed. As such, I went through and recategorized some of my emails. I’m only counting the emails from the most prolific list of both Biden and Trump.
Biden is sending me emails through Biden for President (solely for Biden) and the Biden Victory Fund (a joint group with the DNC). He usually sends the emails as Biden for President, so that is the one I’m counting.
Trump sends me emails through multiple lists, including Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. (solely for Trump), the Trump Make America Great Again Committee (a joint group with the RNC), and the Republican National Committee. The Trump Make America Great Again Committee is his major emailer, so that is the list I am counting.
Biden announced his running mate yesterday: Kamala Harris. True to his word, he did send the announcement email to me as a supporter who signed up to be on the “first to hear” list before he sent it to me as a non-supporter! I honestly wasn’t sure if he would or not.
(Also true to my expectations: the news sites and Twitter had it on blast seconds after it was announced, so not signing up really wasn’t that big of a loss.)
While Biden was excited to announce Harris joining his team and eager to start beating Trump with her at his side, Trump eventually sent out an email late at night calling Harris a “phony” and “weak on crime.”
“It’s like he didn’t even try,” read the preheader to the email.
Just when we thought the idea of Joe Biden being President of the United States couldn’t get any worse, he announces that Kamala Harris, a failed presidential candidate and a corrupt former California Attorney General, will be his running mate.
First, Kamala Harris attacked Joe Biden’s racist policies (did she forget?).
Next, she ends her pathetic run at President.
Then, 3 months after ending her own campaign, she reluctantly endorses Biden.
After that, Biden gets accused of sexual assault, so he vows to choose a woman as his VP.
And now, Sleepy Joe announces Phony Kamala as his running mate.
These two liberals are as far-left as they come. Between both of their terrible records, it’s obvious that this radical duo is PERFECT for each other but WRONG for America.
They are WEAK on crime and want to see our cities burn, unlike President Trump and Vice President Pence who are working tirelessly to restore LAW AND ORDER.
It’s going to be up to Patriots like YOU to save our Nation from that dark fate, Amy. Election Day is right around the corner, and now that we know what we’re up against, I’m going to do something HUGE:
For the NEXT HOUR, all contributions will be 600%-MATCHED!
I want a list of all Patriots who donate in the NEXT HOUR. I know I’ll see your name at the very top.
I need to know you’re with me right now, Amy. With your help, we can show the Radical Left that despite their best efforts, REAL Americans will NEVER support a Biden-Harris ticket.
My team is sending me a list of every Patriot who donates to this email in the NEXT HOUR. I hope I see your name.Donald J. Trump, President of the United States
He also included this picture:
Honestly, none of those photos are attractive shots, but the Biden/Harris looks so much nicer than Trump’s smirk and Pence’s “I totally understand how to smile” expression.
In addition to unveiling his pick as Harris, Biden also launched a new logo, overhauling his old logo with his new official font.
Honestly, I really do like how the new logo looks. It’s all about that E. The original E was way too stumpy and looked like a bit of an afterthought, but the new E is much stronger, more like the actual stripes on the flag. And that letter spacing… oh, that’s nice kerning.
But now, finally, the Veepstakes are over and the real campaign can begin. I’m interested to see how Biden uses Harris in this new form of digital campaigning… and I’m very excited to watch history being made in the 2020 elections. (Again.)
