New single-day record! Three guesses which campaign it came from…
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Donald Trump sent out 11 emails on Monday, mostly trying to sell me hats. Joe Biden sent out 3.
4 of the 11 emails Trump sent were about hats. Three of them were for the hand-signed MAGA hat contest (which has now been expanded so instead of DEFINITELY going to me, it is intended for someone in my zip code). The fourth was for the Freedom 2020 hat, waxing poetical about how Old Glory should be honored and revered and flying high.
Somehow, that is an explanation for why he then chops her up and turns her into hats for sweaty heads?
Whatever. He’s down to 200 Freedom 2020 hats again.
Trump also wanted to sell me platinum membership cards and replica pens so I can own a piece of history. He invited me to join the Trump Executive Members club at the full price of $45, though unlike the sale offers, he didn’t mention if I’d get a certificate with my membership or not.
Trump also wanted to know my opinion on how he was handling the coronavirus crisis. “Bad” was not an option.
Finally, he touted his executive orders and how he was working for Americans while the radical left was playing games with coronavirus relief.
(Please remember, the ‘radical left’ is trying to restore the $600 unemployment benefit, while Trump’s executive orders attack social security and medicare and also only give $400 unemployment benefits if states agree to pay part of it.)
Biden, on the other hand, is excited about next week’s convention. He gave me one more chance to get my personalized convention ticket, and he sent an email to thank me for all that I’ve done, genuinely, from the bottom of his heart (and could I do a little more with a donation to get him to 3 million donors?)
I think the executive orders were the special occasion that warranted so many emails from Trump. I really hope he stops with those orders. My inbox can’t take it.
