Donald Trump’s email swell seems to be fading. At least for one day…

For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

Donald Trump sent 8 emails on Wednesday, while Joe Biden cranked his volume up to 4 emails.

Three of Biden’s emails were asking me for donations, including one where he announced that he had raised over $140 million in July. He also sent me an email in which he noticed that I hadn’t endorsed him yet and asked if I’d sign on as an endorser of his campaign, joining the ranks of other Democrats such as President Obama and Senator Warren.
Trump, on the other hand, kept trying to ply me with offers that were JUST FOR ME even though he also would show me all the other people it was for.
Time’s running out to win a FREE trip to meet President Trump.

It’s worth noting that this event is taking place on August 8 in New York.
New York has travel restrictions on 35 states and territories. If you enter New York from one of these restricted states or territories, you are required to quarantine for 14 days.
Michigan is one of the few not on that list. Guess that means my chances of meeting Trump really are upped.
The online newsletter Popular Information recently ran a story about how this event, like all of Trump’s previous contest events, was yet another scam from the Trump campaign. It’s an interesting, albeit unsurprising read.
Does this mean that all those “meet so-and-so!” contests are a scam the way the matching donations are? No, actually, it doesn’t.
Many Democrats have run this sort of contest back when nobody had ever heard of the coronavirus, usually inviting supporters to watch the debates. The difference is that the Democrats would then provide proof that the meetings actually happened. Photos of the candidates with the winners would sometimes be shared, or testimonials, or full videos.
Funny, really, how the campaigns that didn’t use “epic photo!” as a selling point were the ones that actually displayed said epic photos.

Interestingly, the Biden Competitive email and the Trump Hostile email were on the same ad campaign. However, they were handled very differently.

One of these candidates definitely comes across as unhinged all right.
I just don’t think it’s the one they think it is.
From Joe Biden himself:
Folks, these are difficult times for our country, you don’t need me to tell you that.
We recently found out that April, May, and June of this year was the worst period for our economy in recorded history. As the Trump administration continues to fail to confront the COVID-19 crisis, hundreds of thousands of small businesses have shut their doors, millions face rent checks and mortgage payments they can’t afford to make, and countless others face the deep pain of mourning loved ones who have fallen victim to this terrible virus.
At times like this, it would be easy to give into darkness, to despair. To give up.
But that’s not who we are.
In America — and in this campaign — we’re tough, and we’re resilient. We choose hope over fear. And we will not back down from the challenges facing us.
Joe
