Day 436: 7/29/20

EDIT: This post was written when Trump’s emails were hiding in Spam. Here is the correct breakdown of this day’s emails.

End of the month means Joe Biden is ramping up his emails.

For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!

It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.

The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

So many emails.

Joe Biden sent out 4 emails on Wednesday.

And they all wanted money.

With the month coming to an end, it’s time for the end-of-month push for donations, which means an $8 million goal and lots of emails asking me to achieve that goal.

Angry at Trump

Of the four emails, the first talked about how Trump had abandoned America when she needed leadership the most, citing one million new cases of COVID-19 and 150,000 dead.

Obama emailed the second email, talking about how he had run his last campaign, but the things he fought for are things Biden is fighting for, so I should support Biden.

Then, surprisingly, it was Valerie Jarrett, who had worked with Biden for 8 years in the Obama administration, to email next, explaining that she knows Biden can turn the page on this dark chapter of our history.

Finally, Team Biden emailed to ask if I noticed that Obama had emailed me. Not only had he emailed me on Wednesday, but he had also emailed me on Tuesday. THAT’S HOW IMPORTANT THIS $8 MILLION GOAL IS.

That is not a good enough reason to get me to care, unfortunately. It’s nice to set goals for yourself, but you can’t expect other people to achieve them for you.

Triple digit emails!
