EDIT: This post was written when Trump’s emails were hiding in Spam. Here is the correct breakdown of this day’s emails.

One major difference between the campaigns: Joe Biden emails me during the day, but Donald Trump likes his 11:55 PM emails.
Emails | |
---|---|
Total | 6 |
Biden | 4 |
Trump | 2 |
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

Thursday brought about 6 emails, with 4 coming from Joe Biden and 2 from Donald Trump.

Everyone was freaking out about their mid-month fundraising deadline that is totally a big serious deal. It’s bad enough that FEC deadlines went from 4 a year to 12, but now we’re panicking over how much money we’ve raised by the 15th of the month too? What’s next, weekly fundraising deadlines?

Anyway, all of the emails of Thursday were trying to fundraise. Biden kept stressing how much he needed to hit his donor goal to keep ahead of Trump, he’s just barely able to make it if 900 people from Michigan donate, it’s super important to keep his ads airing in battleground states, including Texas, so please please please donate.
Trump, on the other hand, offered me yet another one-time-only EXCLUSIVE 500% match donation just for me (Spoiler: it’s not, and no one is matching). He also announced his first ever virtual fundraiser, which is going to have very limited seats, one of which they’re reserving for me if only I paid $45.
Dear TikTok teens who screwed up his Tulsa rally: DO NOT PAY HIM even for empty seats. But if you can find a way to reserve seats without paying…
I have to admit, I’m a bit curious about this fundraiser. How is it going to raise money if openings are so exclusive and limited? And how will Trump like it? He won’t get the stadium of people roaring his name or cheering or clapping. In big conference calls, everyone else gets muted. And if it’s just a video being live-streamed, that’s even less feedback. Will it matter to Trump if he’s not getting that boost of happy endorphins?
If he doesn’t care about it, will it be coherent? (If he does, will it be coherent?) I’m a bit interested in learning the outcome of this rally…
But I won’t be attending.
