What’s this? All new charts!? Am I… tracking Trump now!?
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
Joe Biden sent out 3 emails on Wednesday, while Donald Trump sent out 4.
Joe Biden’s emails were focused more on donations, while Donald Trump was a bit all over the place, mostly looking for confirmation that I supported him.
Biden is consistently very grateful and hopeful in his emails. On Wednesday, he celebrated 2.6 million new members of Team Joe in just June alone. He then followed up with perhaps his very best email ever, the story of the Jewish woman who would donate $18 every time Biden ran for office, and Biden showing up when she died to honor her. It is a very good and touching story, even though this isn’t the first time I’ve read it. However, with all the new members to the mailing list, it’s good to let the new people see it too.
Of course, he followed up with his director of paid media, Patrick Bonsignore, telling me that he either almost spit out his coffee or he did spit out his coffee when he saw that Trump had done a $90 million ad buy and he was shocked at the aggressiveness.
(This is not new news, Patrick.)
Trump, on the other hand, wanted to know where I’ve been and why I haven’t joined the Trump 100 Club, which is a special offer only to the top 100 supporters of Trump. Trump would be very disappointed if I didn’t accept. (To join, you must donate).
He then proceeded to stir up hatred and division.
The truth is, the Democrats HATE you, Amy, and they hate everything you stand for. The Coastal Elites, the Fake News media, and the Radical Left all thought that they could silence your voice with intimidation.
But, they FAILED in 2016 and they will FAIL again in November.
President Trump wants to know who stood by his side. He wants to see a list of EVERY Patriot who adds their name in the NEXT HOUR. Don’t let your President down.
(It’s worth noting that I told him my name was Amy, just in case that was why he wasn’t putting me on his lists.)
Trump is a big fan of all-caps for emphasis. So much so, that I started tracking its usage.
I did take out the “truth/honesty” tracking, because honestly, I was so tired of it. Everyone uses it, and I don’t believe it any time it’s used.
But that wasn’t the only time Trump used divisive language.
“When children are [not in school], they are missing more than just time in the classroom…”
– Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States
Our First Lady is right.
If schools around our Nation choose not to re-open soon, our children will miss so much more than just an education. The Invisible Enemy has already taken so much from our Country, and we cannot allow it to take away our kids’ childhood too.
As your President, I will not stand for that. America needs to get back on track.
It’s important that EVERY American comes together at a time like this to send a united message that SCHOOLS MUST RE-OPEN IN THE FALL. I’m calling on YOU to make a public statement and add your name to stand with your President and our First Lady.
The Radical Left (the cancel everything party) will try and keep our schools closed FOREVER. We need 1 MILLION signatures to show them where Real Americans stand.Donald J. Trump, President of the United States
I find a certain level of irony that Trump is arguing we must open schools so that the Invisible Enemy is not taking away our kids’ childhoods.
As if killing them (or their teachers, or their families) with COVID-19 won’t take away their childhoods.
Trump also encouraged me to give him all of my information: name, address, phone number, email address. In return for all of that and signing up for text messages from two different campaign numbers, I would get a FREE GIFT of Trump gear.
No specificity of what sort of Trump gear. Just some sort of Trump gear.
I’m looking forward to emails again. It’s going to be fun to actually compare Biden to someone else instead of just shouting into a void about Biden’s bad emails.
But at the same time… I kind of think Trump’s emails are better than Biden’s. They’re horrible, don’t get me wrong, but they feel more solid and catered to their audience. Biden’s come across as wet noodles more often than not.
