How many membership cards should you have if you’re a true-blue supporter of Team Joe?
Emails | Campaigns | |
---|---|---|
Total | 11 | 1 |
Non-Donor | 6 | 1 |
Donor | 5 | 1 |
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.

Over the weekend, Joe Biden sent out 6 non-donor emails and 5 donor emails.

As per usual, Biden’s focus was mainly on his campaign, though he did send out a fundraising email asking me to look at the garbage that Trump was using to fundraise (and therefore, by extent, the garbage that Biden was using to fundraise via Trump). He even included a handy GIF to show it off.

I have started including “used all-caps” in some of my tracking.

Because Biden had such a horrible fundraising week, he was tracking behind his goals, so he asked me to donate to get a bumper sticker. However, he only asked me as a non-donor, because just a day earlier, he’d been praising me as a donor at a rally for outpacing his fundraising hopes that week.
To all political email writers: please make up your mind. Either you’re ahead this week or you’re behind this week. Please, please please don’t keep swapping. You’ll give your supporters whiplash and trust issues.
But really, what I also wanted to point out was that Biden is trying to decide on his official Biden 2020 membership card and needed my input on the design.

But, I did ask how many membership cards you needed if you were a deep down Biden supporter, right?

The answer is not actually two.

It’s three.
