We have a presumptive nominee now. Joe Biden is the last man standing in the Democratic Primary.
For all new readers: Welcome! I am currently on the mailing lists of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, though I have previously been on the mailing lists of 28 Democratic candidates! This blog breaks down recent emails with charts and excerpts. If you already know all of this, feel free to skip to the next chart!
It took some time for the Trump emails to kick in, so I started officially tracking his list on July 7. I have been tracking Biden’s for longer, but I will start comparing them as of July 7. All of these emails are going to a new email, and I have not donated, filled out surveys, signed petitions, or otherwise interacted with either candidate’s emails.
The rules I try to follow for the various categories are laid out in The Framework.
For the first time in a long time, Joe Biden actually sent me an extra email to my donor account. He also dropped one of his usual non-donor emails, sending only 2 of those on Thursday.
With Bernie Sanders dropping out of the race, Joe Biden is now the presumptive nominee, and the primary election is effectively over, barring any catastrophic tragedies. The Biden campaign sent an email asking me to sign a congratulatory card for Biden: they knew his face would light up when he saw my name. Of course, he did send an email asking for money too.
His fifth email, to me as a donor only, was asking me to confirm that I was a vote for Biden. Clearly, I was going to be all-in as a donor, but they just wanted to confirm that I’d actually vote for him.
He already got my primary vote, and of course I’m voting blue in November.
With all the talk of being the nominee and focusing on the general, most of Biden’s emails were about the campaign. His one fundraising email did focus solely on raising money, though, so that was counted as a pure fundraising. I have a feeling we won’t be getting any more debate emails… probably ever.
I am still going to be continuing BTE as a daily blog, mostly because I’ve gone this far without missing a day and I want to keep it up! It will end after the election, for sure, but I may start covering… him. The current guy.
I guess I should start trying to get on his mailing list.
